Sticky Hearts

Whenever I get my issue of Disney Family Fun I tear out all of the projects I want to do and put it in a file. This project came from February 2011 and was a lot of fun. The reason I hadn't done it sooner was because I kept forgetting to pick up a heart cookie cutter. I still have not purchased one but decided to improvise instead. The shape I used was made from two strips of foam stapled together. It worked great! Just a warning the glue is sticky but a lot of fun!

What you need
Scraps of yarn
Cornstarch
water
cookie cutter

Directions

1. First you will need to make the glue. Mix 1/4 cup of cornstarch and 1/2 cup of water in a saucepan and stir until smooth. Then heat the mixture over medium heat until it's thick and translucent.

2. Cut your scraps of yarn in approximately 12 inch pieces.

3. Laying your cookie cutter on a sheet of wax paper coat your yarn pieces with the goo and lay in a thin layer inside the cookie cutter.

4. Once the shape is full you will need to wash your hands and then press the yarn flat.

5. Let it dry and you are done!
